Day 1 of my trip to Boston!
We arrived in Boston early in the morning because we took a night bus. My friend and I were so tired; we had to take a nap at your Air Bnb before heading out for the day.
First stop was the beginning of the Freedom Trail
I was really not feeling great that day, so I stopped by a juice bar to get some juice!
Me looking happy with my juice, which was delicious.
There were so many of these duck boat tour things going around Boston. You can find one in almost every single color.
My friend got a pesto alfredo pasta for lunch from a local Italian lunch spot, Casa Razdora. There was a very busy line during lunch, but it moved pretty fast. The pasta was cooked really well, and the pesto flavor stood out amazingly.
And then we were off to Quincy Market, as soon as I got close to this area, I can feel the "touristy-ness" of it. It was probably one of the most crowded places we encountered while at Boston.
Quincy Market was filled with different vendors selling food. A lot of them seemed like places you would typically find at a mall, along with seafood stalls that are trying to attract all the tourists!
We didn't buy anything at Quincy Market, although I did snatch a few samples ;)
I think this is a significant clock tower next to Quincy Market....?
Just another historical looking building. There are a lot of historical sights and buildings in Boston, but I really can't keep up with all their history and such.
And then we headed off to the North End, the famous Italian neighborhood in Boston.
We took a detour and walked towards the harbor.
Muahaha I successfully caught a candid picture of my friends
And then it was cannoli time at Modern Pastry! My Boston friend really suggested this place over Mike's Pastry; he said he preferred Modern Pastry a lot more.
There were so many other goodies along with the cannoli. I really wanted to try everything here, but I stuck with the original cannoli, since that's what they are famous for.
This cannoli was amazing. Wow. The ricotta filling was perfect, creamy and sweet but not overly rich. And the crust was hard and crunchy, absolutely gorgeous.
Then we walked through Hay Market. There were so many fruits and veggies, and they were super cheap too! I was really tempted to buy them, but it was just too much to carry.
Then we walked along the Charles River. We wanted to go to a Taiwanese Restaurant in Allston for dinner, and my Boston friend suggested that we walk all the way there. It was like an one and a half hour walk!
I was so tired that day, but I'm glad we took the long walk.
Finally reached our destination! We had dinner at Jo Jo Taipei; they specialized in Taiwanese food of course.
Looking back at this meal, it was definitely a bit disappointing. Not that it tasted bad, but all the dishes seemed very westernized. They were also quite salty and oily, although thats usually the case with most restaurant foods, but i still thought it could have been toned down and more authentic.
After dinner, we took the subway back into the city, and made our way back to the Air Bnb, while my Boston friend went back home. And this concludes the first day of my Boston trip!
